iPhone Duo vs iPhone 18 Pro: price, size, cameras, battery
The iPhone Duo costs exactly $800 more than the iPhone 18 Pro at every storage size: $1,999 against $1,199 for 256GB in the US, and the gap is the same at 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. For that you get a folding screen, a thinner open design and longer video battery, but fewer cameras and Touch ID instead of Face ID. Here is how the two compare on Apple's own specs.

What the Duo does better
- Screen size. Opened, it is a 7.6-inch display; closed, a 5.4-inch phone that is easier to pocket than a regular Pro.
- Thin when open. 5.2 mm when unfolded is thinner than the 18 Pro's 8.75 mm, though it is 11.3 mm thick when folded.
- Video battery life. Apple rates it for up to 31 hours of video on the inner screen and 44 hours on the outer one, against 36 hours for the 18 Pro.
- Apple Pencil. The Duo's displays support the Apple Pencil (USB-C), which Apple says it will support later this year.
What the 18 Pro does better
- Price. $800 less at every size.
- Cameras. A third rear camera, a 48MP telephoto with 4x and 8x optical-quality zoom, and a variable-aperture main camera. The Duo gets 2x optical-quality zoom from its main camera.
- Weight. 211 g against 254 g.
- Face ID. The Duo uses a fingerprint sensor in the side button instead.
- Available now. No preorder race; the Duo's first stock is expected to be limited.
Which should you buy?
This part is our opinion. If you mainly take photos, zoom in a lot or want the lower price, the iPhone 18 Pro is the stronger buy. If you read, watch video and multitask a lot and want a bigger screen in your pocket, the Duo is the new idea, and early reviews, expected from October 20, should show how well the fold holds up.
