Movember 2026: dates, rules and how to take part
Movember 2026 runs from Sunday, November 1 to Monday, November 30. For one month, people grow a moustache, walk or run, or host an event to raise money for men's health. You sign up and collect donations through movember.com.
The rules for growing a Mo
- Start clean-shaven on November 1. Movember's own FAQ says everyone should start with a completely bare face on the first day.
- No head starts. Growing early goes "against the spirit of Movember", the FAQ says.
- It lasts one month. You grow it from November 1 to November 30.
- Talk about it. Movember calls each moustache a conversation starter for men's health, which is the point of the whole thing.
Four ways to take part
- Grow a moustache and ask friends to sponsor it.
- Move: walk or run 60 kilometres during November (60 miles on the US site). Movember says the number stands for the 60 men who die by suicide every hour around the world.
- Host a Mo-ment: a gathering with friends or colleagues that raises money.
- Mo Your Own Way: set your own challenge.
Fitness apps such as Garmin, Fitbit and Strava can be linked to a Movember page so your kilometres show up for sponsors.

Where the money goes
Movember funds work on three areas: mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. It says the moustaches have funded more than AUD 1.8 billion of men's health work since it began (Movember). The charity was founded in Melbourne, Australia, in 2003 (Wikipedia).
Quick tips
- Take a photo on day 1 and every week. A before-and-after picture is the easiest way to get sponsors.
- Tell people why you are doing it. A short line on your page about someone you are growing for goes a long way.
- Not able to grow one? Move and Host count just as much.
