MUET Speaking Test 2026: New Dates After Haze Postponement
The Speaking test of the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) Session 3, postponed because of the haze, is now scheduled for Oct. 19 and 20 and for Nov. 2, 3 and 4, 2026, according to the Malaysian Examinations Council (MPM). The written papers (Listening, Reading and Writing) were set for Saturday, Oct. 17, and MPM's notice of Oct. 14 left that date unchanged (MPM, Oct. 14).
Your own Speaking date is on your updated MUET/D slip, which MPM said candidates could download from mpm.edu.my from 10 am on Oct. 15.
Speaking test dates: who sits when
| Who | Speaking was | Speaking is now |
|---|---|---|
| Candidates from government and government-aided schools and institutions, nationwide | Oct. 12, 13 and 14 | Nov. 2, 3 and 4 |
| Johor candidates, including Batu Pahat, whose test was on Oct. 8 | Oct. 8 | Oct. 20 |
| Batu Pahat district candidates whose test was on Oct. 7 | Oct. 7 | Oct. 19 |
MPM's notices behind the table are those of Oct. 9 (school and government-aided candidates nationwide) and Oct. 8 (Johor). MPM's consolidated notice of Oct. 14 says the Speaking tests first set for Oct. 7, 8, 12, 13 and 14 are now on Oct. 19, 20, Nov. 2, 3 and 4, and does not match each date to a group, so check your slip.
MUET Session 3 key dates
- Oct. 7: MPM cancelled the Speaking tests on Oct. 7, 8, 12, 13 and 14 at all test centres in Batu Pahat district, Johor, from Oct. 7 because of the haze (MPM). It also postponed the Oct. 8 tests across Johor (MPM).
- Oct. 9: MPM moved the nationwide Speaking tests for government and government-aided school and institution candidates from Oct. 12, 13 and 14 to Nov. 2, 3 and 4.
- Sat., Oct. 17: written papers: Listening (800/1), Reading (800/3) and Writing (800/4).
- Mon., Oct. 19 and Tue., Oct. 20: postponed Speaking (800/2) tests for Johor candidates.
- Mon., Nov. 2, Tue., Nov. 3 and Wed., Nov. 4: postponed Speaking tests for candidates originally set for Oct. 12 to 14.
Johor: schools closed for five more days from Oct. 19
The Johor government extended the closure of schools and educational institutions across the state for another five days from Monday, Oct. 19 because of the haze. It said the needs of students sitting examinations and assessments would be taken into account, with limited exceptions possible, coordinated by the state education department (Bernama, Oct. 17).
MPM's Oct. 14 notice was issued before that extension, and it still lists Oct. 19 and 20. MPM's Oct. 9 notice says its dates are subject to haze announcements by the federal government, the state governments and the Education Ministry. MPM's announcements page showed no newer notice on the morning of Oct. 20, so Johor candidates should check their slip and MPM's channels before travelling to a test centre. See our page on the haze, school closures and API readings.

Results
None of MPM's notices on the Session 3 changes gives a date for the results. MPM's do's and don'ts tell candidates to check the result release date after the test, so watch its portal.
Dates are from MPM's notices of Oct. 7, 8, 9 and 14, 2026 (references MPM.100-1/7/1(35), (37), (38) and (39)) on mpm.edu.my/pengumuman, read on Oct. 20, 2026, and Johor's closure from Bernama. MPM says its dates depend on haze announcements, so check your slip.
