BSKE: is there a barangay election on 2 November? No
No. The Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) will not take place on Monday 2 November 2026. In September, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act No. 12326. It extended the terms of barangay and SK officials from four to five years and moved the elections from 2 November 2026 to 2028 (Daily Tribune). The law sets the next BSKE for the "second Monday of November 2028", which is 13 November 2028, with elections every five years after that (GMA News).

How the date changed
- The first plan was 1 December 2025. A 2025 law moved it to 2 November 2026, and Comelec set its calendar for that date (Wikipedia).
- In September 2026, RA 12326 reset the elections to 2028 and gave barangay and SK officials five-year terms.
- Comelec then stopped its preparations for the 2 November vote. Its chair, George Erwin Garcia, said spending public money on elections that are no longer scheduled under the law could expose election officials to liability (Daily Tribune).
What the Supreme Court could do
A petition asks the Supreme Court to strike down RA 12326, and the court has ordered the Office of the President, Congress and Comelec to comment. Garcia has said that if the court stops the law, Comelec may use its power to postpone the vote by up to 30 days. That would give it time to restart preparations such as training teachers and sending election materials to distant areas (Daily Tribune). We will update this page if the court rules.
Beware of fake schedules
Comelec has warned against social media posts giving new BSKE dates. On 9 October it called "fake news" a post saying the BSKE would be held on 28 November. That post was an edited version of Comelec's own graphic for a real special election in Batanes on 28 November 2026, which will fill the congressional seat left vacant by the death of Representative Ciriaco B. Gato Jr. There is no barangay or SK election in Batanes or anywhere else in the country on that day (Daily Tribune). Comelec also denied a claim that the BSKE would be held in December (Daily Tribune). Check Comelec's official website and social media accounts for any change.
Is 2 November still a holiday?
Yes, but not because of the election. Monday 2 November was already on the 2026 list of special non-working days under Proclamation No. 1006 (Inquirer).
