The other countries
Amazon says Prime members in 22 countries get the sale this season. Besides those above, they are Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and Türkiye. Amazon adds that "dates may vary per country", and we couldn't find a separate official date for Brazil, Colombia, Mexico or Türkiye yet, so check your local Amazon site.
India isn't on the list. Amazon India runs its own autumn sale, the Great Indian Festival, instead.
How it works
- It's for Prime members only. In the US, Prime costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year, and new members may get a free 30-day trial, Amazon says.
- New deals drop three times a day. In the US, the limited-time "Today's Big Deals" appear at midnight, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Pacific time during the two days.
- Deals sell out. Many offers last only while stock lasts, so a deal you see in the morning may be gone by the afternoon.
- Early deals are already live on some Amazon devices and services, ahead of the main event.
Three ways not to overpay
- Check the price before the sale. Look at what the item cost in the weeks before October 6, so you know if the deal is real.
- Use your wish list. Add what you actually need now. It's easier to spot a real discount on something you were going to buy anyway.
- Mind the time zone. The sale starts at midnight Pacific time in North America, which is 8 a.m. in the UK on October 6, after the UK sale has already begun.
