How to Add Tagged Posts to Your Instagram Grid
Instagram now lets you put a post you are tagged in on your own profile grid, without reposting it. The option is called Add to grid. Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced it on September 10, 2026, and TechCrunch reports that it is rolling out, so it may not have reached your account yet.
Three ways to add a tagged post
- From the DM notification. When someone tags you, Instagram tells you in your direct messages. The option to add the post to your grid is in that notification.
- From the post itself. Open the post you are tagged in, tap the three dots at its upper right and choose Add to grid.
- From your Tagged tab. Go to your profile, open the Tagged tab, then press and hold a photo or video. The Add to grid option appears.
Those are the three routes listed by Engadget and PetaPixel, which quotes Mosseri.
What happens when you add one
- Nothing is copied or deleted. The post stays with its original author and also shows on your grid. Adding it does not delete or duplicate the original, TechCrunch says.
- You can rearrange it. By default, added posts appear among your own in reverse-chronological order. Since June, Instagram's Reorder your grid feature lets you move posts around, as Engadget notes.
- Privacy still applies. A notice under the Add to grid button says who can see the post depends on the privacy settings of your account and of the account that tagged you.
How to take one off again
You can remove the post from your grid at any time without removing it from your Tagged tab, and the original post stays where it is, TechCrunch says. The reports do not list the exact taps for removing it, so start with the post's three-dot menu.
Who it is for
Instagram points to favorite group photos, creator collaborations and memories, though Engadget notes you can add any post you are tagged in. It is also a way to show work you were tagged in without republishing it or using the Invite collaborators option. TechCrunch adds that brand campaigns with several creators could use it, and PetaPixel calls it a useful tool for photographers who use the app as their portfolio.
Not seeing Add to grid?
The rollout is gradual. Check for an Instagram app update and look again in a few days. That is general advice, not a statement from Instagram.
