The maximum Old Age Security pension is $762.50 a month for people aged 65 to 74, and $838.75 for people 75 and over, from October 2026. The October payment goes out on Wednesday 28 October. That is $10.53 a month more than in July to September for the younger group, and $11.58 more for those 75 and over. All amounts are from the Government of Canada's table for October to December 2026.

CPP amounts for 2026

The Canada Pension Plan is adjusted once a year, in January, not every quarter like OAS. For someone starting their CPP retirement pension at 65 in January 2026, the maximum was $1,507.65 a month. Canada.ca lists an annual adjustment of 2.0% for CPP benefits already being paid. Most people get less than the maximum, because the amount depends on how much and for how long they paid in.

Why OAS went up in October

OAS amounts are reviewed every January, April, July and October to follow the cost of living as measured by the Consumer Price Index. They go up when prices rise and do not go down when prices fall. For October to December 2026 the increase is 1.4%, and 3.0% over the year since October 2025. The next review is for January 2027. There are two rates because the OAS pension for people 75 and over was permanently raised by 10% in July 2022 (Canada.ca).
