Malaysia's RON97 petrol costs RM5.15 a litre and unsubsidised RON95 RM4.67 from Oct. 8 until 11:59 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 14, the Finance Ministry (MOF) said in its Oct. 7 statement, which The Vibes also reported. Both went up 15 sen. Unsubsidised diesel stays at RM5.27, and motorists on Budi95 still pay RM1.99 for RON95. It is the 42nd weekly fuel price revision of 2026.

MOF announces the new prices every Wednesday evening, and they take effect from midnight, which is 12:00 am on Thursday. The next announcement is due on Wednesday, Oct. 14, for prices from Thursday, Oct. 15. In Malay it is “harga minyak minggu ini”.

As an example, filling 40 litres of RON95 costs RM79.60 at the Budi95 price and RM186.80 at the unsubsidised price, and 40 litres of RON97 costs RM206.00. The Oct. 8–14 prices are in MOF's Oct. 7 statement, and earlier notices are in MOF's media release list.

Petrol and diesel prices over the last three weeks

Unsubsidised prices per litre:

WeekRON97RON95Diesel
Oct. 8–14RM5.15RM4.67RM5.27
Oct. 1–7RM5.00RM4.52RM5.27
Sept. 24–30RM5.05RM4.57RM5.42

The Oct. 8–14 rise came as Brent crude stayed around US$100 a barrel and China suspended most of its fuel exports for October, which squeezed supplies of refined products, MOF said in its Oct. 7 statement.

The Oct. 1–7 prices and the Sept. 24–30 prices are both from MOF's Sept. 30 statement, which Sinar Harian also reported: unsubsidised RON97 and RON95 each fell 5 sen and diesel fell 15 sen, from RM5.42. MOF said the cut followed the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula and lower average world crude prices after Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline resumed operations. It also warned that price uncertainty is expected to continue while the conflict between the United States and Iran is unresolved.
