What ID to bring

Florida law asks for one of these current and valid photo IDs (section 101.043, Florida Statutes):

  1. Florida driver license
  2. Florida identification card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
  3. U.S. passport or passport card
  4. U.S. uniformed services or Merchant Marine ID
  5. Veteran health identification card from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
  6. Florida license to carry a concealed weapon or firearm
  7. Any other ID card issued by the federal government, the state, a county or a city, but not one issued by a school, college or university

Changed this year: student IDs, debit or credit cards, and retirement centre, neighbourhood association and public assistance IDs are no longer on the list, after the law was amended in 2026. If your photo ID has no signature, bring a second ID that shows your signature.

Forgot your ID? You can still vote a provisional ballot. The county canvassing board then decides whether it counts, which includes checking your signature against your registration record.

What's on the ballot

Floridians elect a new governor, a U.S. senator, all 28 members of the U.S. House, the state Cabinet (attorney general, chief financial officer and agriculture commissioner) and state legislators, along with county races. The two highest-profile races:

Your Supervisor of Elections posts a sample ballot for your address, including any proposed amendments to the Florida Constitution.

On Election Day

On Tuesday, November 3, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (section 100.011), and you vote at the polling place for your precinct. Mail ballots must be received by your Supervisor of Elections by 7 p.m. that day (section 101.67); a postmark isn't enough.
